I hail from Mason City, Iowa, but also consider Dallas, Texas, home.

After six years in the jazz studies program at North Texas State University, I had a 25 year career as a professional drummer, composer and arranger.

I played and recorded with the likes of B.W. Stevenson and Willie Nelson, the Smothers Brothers, the NTSU 1:00 Lab Band, the Woody Herman Orchestra, and did numerous jingle and broadcast recordings.

The year 2001 required a major career reset as I injured my back severely enough to make playing the drums at a professional level impossible.

But, to borrow a phrase, when one door closes another opens. So when a friend of mine offered to teach me how to sell musical instruments in his family's store, I gratefully took him up on his offer.

Which led to my passion for writing direct response copy. And to my immersion in the art and craft of creating profitable direct response marketing strategies and campaigns for businesses and non-profits.
