WebNov 17, 2013 · At the bottom of the steering pedestal, there is a bearing, a metal washer, a cork washer, a gasket, and a cap that holds it all in place. If that bearing is worn out, (good chance), it will still wobble even if you tighten the eccentric gear towards the steering shaft worm gear. The only way to eliminate the mess is usually a complete rebuild.
